On 3 March 2025, the Ocean Sustainability Club (OSC) proudly kicked off its first Club Day of the year with the 60th Batch at Bangladesh Marine Academy, Chattogram—marking an energetic and inspiring start to OSC’s 2025 journey. The event warmly welcomed new members and introduced the student representatives who will help lead the club’s activities throughout the year.
The session opened with welcoming remarks from the CEO and senior members of the 59th Batch, who shared the club’s vision of building a sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally responsible maritime community. The enthusiasm and voluntary participation of the newly joined members clearly reflected a growing commitment among future seafarers to support ocean sustainability initiatives. 🌊
A major highlight of the program was the signature OSC Talk, which focused on the timely topic: “The Most Suitable Alternative to Plastic Bottles for Personal Use to Reduce Single-Use Plastic.” One male and one female speaker presented practical and realistic alternatives, followed by an interactive discussion session moderated by the CEO. The discussion encouraged participants to adopt simple but impactful eco-friendly habits in their daily lives. ♻️
Another important segment of the event was the announcement of the newly appointed 2025 Club Council Representatives, who will help guide OSC initiatives in key areas such as sustainability, information technology, culture, equity and inclusion, and organizational development. Their leadership will play a vital role in strengthening student engagement and expanding the club’s outreach activities.
Looking ahead, OSC has planned several impactful initiatives for 2025, including the Green Campus Program and the celebration of International Women’s Day, reinforcing its commitment to awareness, participation, and positive change within the maritime community.
With strong student leadership and growing momentum, the Ocean Sustainability Club is set to make 2025 a year of action, awareness, and meaningful progress toward a more sustainable blue future.
