Calibration of World Maritime Day-29th September 2022

World Maritime Day was on September 29. The IMO has announced that “New technologies for greener shipping” will be the theme for 2022. The theme is related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, particularly SDGs 13 and 14 on addressing climate change and the sustainable use of oceans, seas, and marine resources, SDG 9 on industry, innovation, and infrastructure, and SDG 17, which emphasizes the significance of partnerships and implementation in achieving these goals.

Young academy cadets of Bangladesh Marine Academy took part in a rally to raise awareness among the public about sustainable shipping through green technology in celebration of the day with the worldwide community. The rally finished close to the municipal press club after going around the main street of Chattogram. In front of the general public, national and local news media, a briefing was held to encourage inclusive innovation and adoption of new technologies to serve the needs for a greener transition of the maritime sector.To promote stewardship for a greener tomorrow, T-shirts with the Word Maritime Day theme have been handed to attendees on this particular occasion.

 Later, the cadets put on a cultural performance in Bangladesh Marine Academy auditorium to further emphasize the significance of this year’s theme, “New technologies for greener shipping.”
