On 4th October 2018, the members of Ocean sustainability Club (OSC) took their very first initiative to introduce a sustainable waste management plan for Bangladesh marine academy. On 22/09/2019, honorable state minister of shipping Mr. Khaled Mahmood Chawdhuray officially inaugurated the first sustainable project of the club.
During the inauguration, club members also carried out an awareness building session on sustainable ocean and environment management among the general club members and the audience by performing a stage song.
On the same program, as part of My Bottle Campaign, Club General Secretary Capt. Md. Feroz Mostafa handed over a glass bottle to the Honorable State minister of shipping Mr. Khaled Mahmud Chy.

Addressing triple bottom lines of sustainability:
1. Environmental:
i) More clean and pollution free academy campus
ii) Reduce plastic trash around the academy campus
iii) Less plastic ending up to karnafuly river and Bay of Bangle from shore based sources
2. Social:
i) Job creation for local community as waste van driver and waste collector
ii) Environmentally aware local community
iii) Close participation of next generation seafarers and students towards a sustainable marine environment
3. Economic:
i) Use of biogas for one single gas burner in cadet mass
ii) Fund generation for minor maintenance of waste collection vehicle
